Building a gaming computer with ATI 4870 Intel I7 12GYGs of ram DDR3

This is a computer that a friend built with me at the camera. It has an Intel I7 Core chip with 12 gygs of ram, a Radeon 4870 X2 with 2gygs of video ram all on an Asus Rampage Extreme ll board with a Cooler Master v10 cpu cooler and a Cooler Master 932 case. 1600 Watts of power by an Ultra X3 power supply. Subscribe for the next video in where we’ll show some vids and pics of benchmarks and framerate tests on various games. Keep an eye out for the misterious ghost cat.

    yeah I thought so …
yeah I thought so aswell.. Just wanna throw away some money to get the top notch shit.. Even tho a good PSU can make your computer run smoothly, there is no need for anything bigger than 750 +/-.. Btw, Im making a pc now with Phenom x4 955 and a single gpu. No extra fans or anything.. is a 550 watts enough you think? :p

    Actually, yes. The …
Actually, yes. The Rampage 2 would be better. In regards to overclocking the RAM, I’d stick with the stock clocked 2000MHz RAM, then you don’t have cooling issues.

Hey guys , I gotta a question for anybody : I´m building a gaming rig and I am not sure about the components I chose….can you help me please ?

    Gigabyte GTX 260
    Gigabyte MA790XT-UD4P AMD 790X
    3×1 GB Zeppelin DDR3 1600 MHz
    Seagate Barracuda 500 GB

    Wouldn’t the …
Wouldn’t the rampage extreme II be better? since it supports 2000mhz OC’ed while the foxconn supports 1800 OC’ed. As well that ram you can’t overclock it since it goes over the motherboards spec’s. You might want to go with a 1800 and Oc’ed it to 2000.

    Not “Top” spec. …
Not “Top” spec. Top spec (commercially) would be:
    Intel Core i7 975 Extreme
    Foxconn Bloodrage
    ATI 5970 Crossfire
    12GB 2GHz DDR3 RAM
1TB HDD with an Intel SSD boot drive.
    Blu ray Reader/ writer
1.5KW PSU to run the thing
Case is your choice, but it’d have to be big enough to accomodate an e-ATX mobo and a massive Graphics Card.
    Windows 7 Ultimate
Monitor and speakers are personal preference.
All of that with a healthy overclock and decent cooling. You’d have to remortgage the house though ;)
