When it comes to computer gaming, what difference does the CPU make?

I’m asking this because I have a duo core CPU but I have a good video card and I can play most games on high settings. But I noticed that all the gaming computers are sold with a i5 or i7 CPU, does it make a lot of difference? What would it do that my computer is not doing as it is now?

both the capacity of ur processor and graphic card is required
see every company has its own marketing strategy so intel provide this support with his processor
but Intel is not everything
worldwide AMD is considered as better for graphic use be it games or anything else
so don’t worry enjoy with what u have
if u ever want to upgrade AMD PHENOM+ASUS MOTHERBOARD +NVIDIA GRAPHIC CARD WILL BE BEST OPTION

Alot? probably not. Up until now the Graphic card is the main part that does gaming.

But with the new i5 and i7, Intel built it to actually help with processing gaming graphics. So in a way you have your graphic card and then some help from your processor. This is kind of the direction they are going to start going in the future. To either have the CPU be able to do some or all of the Graphic processing. More they will have 2 cores for CPU and 2 Cores for Graphics.

Its not there yet, but thats where the future is headed.

Your graphics card will only run as well as your CPU will let it. If you have a really good graphics card and a crappy CPU you will get crappy results. Depending on how fast your processor is, a duo core isn’t to bad for running games but I would never run a GTX 285 on one.

Having a good CPU does make a lot of difference. But you also need memory and a graphics card.
