No.1 Greatest Finals Performances(NBA.com)

Magic Johnson started at center (1980 NBA Finals G6)- NBA.com

Magic Johnson – 42 points, 15 rebounds, 7 assists in series-clinching Game 6(1980 NBA Finals), in place of injured Kareem

In one game, a 20-year-old rookie named Magic Johnson went from precocious to prodigious. With six-time NBA MVP Kareem Abdul-Jabbar out with a severe ankle sprain, Magic started at center and turned in the best performance ever in an NBA Finals game — 42 points, 15 boards, seven assists — on the road, no less — as the Lakers won their first of five NBA titles in the ’80s.

    Best game of …
    Best game of Magic’s career, by far. This was the game that defined him as an NBA legend from that day forward. My only regret was that I wasn’t around to see this game live (was born a year later-lol). Didn’t miss much of his exploits on the hardwood from ‘84-’85 on though…

    yeah people forget …
    yeah people forget Jordan was the best perimeter defender in that era as well as the greatest offensive threat. Not taking away Magics performance here but him and Bird are equally tied in my opinion as the greatest NBA players but Jordan…. man that dude was beyond the NBA. They need a special league for him

    The only reason I …
    The only reason I put Jordan over magic is defense. I think jordan was an outstanding defender while magic was not so much.

    But still, they are almost tied to me.

    This is the best finals performance ever.

    lebron can’t do …
    lebron can’t do that. He is an explosive player, but he has weak handles and can’t play as a point, and he has TERRIBLE inside footwork so he can’t play as center or even a decent 4. He can only be a star at 2 positions.

    Thats the difference. MAGIC was a ROOKIE and he still had the skillset to play all 5 positions. Lebron is a veteran now and he still can’t do it.

    MAGIC = THE BEST
