To celebrate three decades of pc gaming I’m taking a look at my personal top games for the PC. In this video we’re looking at the 80’s, where games with CGA and EGA graphics and PC speaker noise ruled the majority of the decade.

Top 17 Best PC Games of the 2000’s – LGR

Celebrating three decades of pc gaming! I take a look at my personal top games for the PC, ending with this video of the years 2000-2009. Ah, the era where the PC starts really getting shafted due to lame publisher dominance and a console-centric industry. Still tons of great games, despite this!

This is 100% subjective and my own opinion, nothing more. Games were chosen on the basis of how awesome the game was and how often I go back and play them. Why 17? Because it’s an odd number, very odd.

My apologies to Assassin’s Creed 2. I love you, but your publisher Ubisoft was an absolute turd with the obnoxious and pathetic DRM required to play on the PC. I despise Ubisoft, not Ezio, for making one of my top 10 games of the decade unplayable on my platform of choice. Sure, it’s been somewhat “fixed” now, but I have not forgotten, as Ubisoft has not repented.

Classic Game Room – BOSCONIAN arcade video game review

Classic Game Room reviews BOSCONIAN arcade video game by Bally Midway and Namco released in 1981. Bosconian is a top down free roam style space ship shooter that is rare to find in its original arcade videogame cabinet form because many Bosconian arcade games were turned into Galaga machines because they run on similar hardware and Galaga was more popular. Gameplay is fast and frantic as you blow up enemy space ship based and wipe out waves of space ships. Fans of top down shooters like Thunder Force 2 should hunt down some Bosconian! This CGR review of Bosconian has Bosconian arcade machine gameplay showing the Bosconian cabinet, videogame machine and game play at PAPA world headquarters.

Transformers? Overrated. Okay, not really, but that’s what Tonka wanted you to think! This 1987 shmup is a fine example of the 80’s TV show cash-in game. Leader-1 would be proud. And that is sarcasm.

Game Center Gets Multiplayer Games iOS 4.1 – iOS Vlog 100

game center just released today and already, there are a few games that support it. Pangea Software decided to take it to the next level on the first day and release their multiplayer for a few of their games. Cro Mag Rally is the one I tried and it worked great with no lag. I can’t wait to see this on FPS games and games like Real Racing.

Game Center On iOS 4.1 iPod Touch 4 – iOS Vlog 94

game center is Apples way of saying “Xbox Live”. This is Apple Social Networking platform for gaming. It comes packed in iOS 4.1 with no currently supported games. So far, all you can do is basically add friends. This puts down a bit of the hype for people wanting to update. Hope the video helped.

Classic Gaming in Las Vegas Dinky Dana Style

Just got back from my trip to Las Vegas. Went to the Classic Gaming Expo in Tropicana the first 2 days and then enjoy the pool, food, casinos, and nightlife the rest of the trip. Met up with Gamester81 for a bit as well as OldSchoolNYCGamer and BigBrutis1 at the convention. Was really nice to finally meet you guys. More from the Expo to come.

TI Speech Synthesizer Module
Release Date: 1/1/1979

In the early 1980s, TI was known as a pioneer in speech synthesis, and a highly popular plug-in speech synthesizer module was available for the TI-99/4 and 4A. Speech synthesizers were offered free with the purchase of a number of cartridges and were used by many TI-written video games (notable titles offered with speech during this promotion were Alpiner and Parsec). The synthesizer used a variant of linear predictive coding and had a small in-built vocabulary. The original intent was to release small cartridges that plugged directly into the synthesizer unit, which would increase the device’s built in vocabulary. However, the success of software text-to-speech in the Terminal Emulator II cartridge canceled that plan. (Most speech synthesizers were still shipped with the intriguing door that opened on the top, although very few had the connector inside. There are no known speech modules in existence for those few units with the connector.) In many games (mostly those produced by TI), the speech synthesizer had relatively realistic voices. As an example, Alpiner’s speech included male and female voices and could be quite sarcastic when the player made a bad move.

Classic Game Room was the FIRST classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999. Returning in 2008 with new episodes, Classic Game Room breaks out a review of the PLAYSTATION 2 PS2 VS. ATARI 2600 video computer system VCS. CGRHD takes a close look at the new PS2 Slim model compared to the smaller Atari 2600 Jr. The 2600 Junior (as it was known) was released in 1986 to a public hot for the NES, sadly it never received the recognition that it deserved. So which is better? In this versus console battle to the death these two juggernauts from different video gaming eras compete for the world championship of great video game consoles… right. What is incredible is that in the history of video games, the Atari 2600 was a landmark system that debuted in 1977. The PS2 was released to North America in October of 2000. Both were expensive when they came out, were huge and bulky and had only a few games available. But over time they developed a huge fan following that enjoyed their gameplay and graphics, and had literally thousands of games released for each system. Both the 2600 and Playstation 2 had smaller, more compact models released and both are more affordable today for collectors. Sadly there is no wood grained heavy sixer PS2.
